If you expect an anti-wrinkle cream to wash away all of your wrinkles and fine lines within seconds, you will be severely disappointed when results aren’t achieved that quickly. In fact, the disappointment may be so much that you might give up on wrinkle creams altogether, thereby causing you to take more extreme wrinkle treatment measures, such as botox and/or other cosmetic procedures.

When using an anti-wrinkle cream, be realistic with your expectations. Don’t expect to look like a super model after a week of use, and don’t think that you’ll look 20 years younger because it “says so” on the box. Yes, you’ll look younger and have smoother skin, but it won’t usually happen in a day; so keep that in mind.

As far as wrinkle remover creams are concerned, give each one you try about 2 months. Most anti-wrinkle creams should reduce wrinkles & fine lines substantially within 2 months time — but if the cream doesn’t, kick it to the curb and start again with a new product.

Shoulder bursitis can be a painful ailment that keeps you from performing your daily routine. This condition is often referred to as bursitis tendonitis because of the great deal of similarities between the two terms when referring to shoulder bursitis. In contrast, however, the terms bursitis tendonitis have some subtle differences that will help specify treatments to cure the ailment.

Shoulder bursitis, specifically, is more of an inflammation of soft tissue that surrounds shoulder joints in the body. Generally, bursitis affects parts of the body that are movable, including the hips, knees, shoulders, elbows, ankles, and wrists, but the shoulders are highly susceptible to tendonitis. If it is not treated in a timely manner, it can be severe and cause long-term problems. If, however, you consult with a physician at the first sign of trouble, you can usually halt its effects and keep it from causing any damage.

The cause of pain in the shoulder joints is often due to shoulder bursitis. This happens when the bursa sac becomes inflamed and no longer performs the duty of cushioning the impact of the joints when they are moving around. It consists of a sac of fluid that acts as a pillow so that the bones, muscles, and tendons do not rub against each other, too. When a bursa becomes inflamed, moving and using the joints is very painful and often impossible due to stiffness.

Tendonitis in shoulder joints, on the other hand, is an inflammation of the area where the muscle gets narrower in order to join to a bone. The inflammation generally causes more blood flow through the area and, as a result, causes swelling. People who experience tendonitis in shoulder joints generally have a great deal of pain and loss of function in the upper arm areas as well. Tendonitis in shoulder joints is a common ailment for many people who have active lifestyles that involve sports demanding of the upper body.

People who are prone to acquiring tendonitis bursitis range in age from young teenagers to senior citizens. Oftentimes, tendonitis bursitis can result from a sudden injury to a joint or other body part that causes it to become inflamed and stiff. However, other than a traumatic injury, it can also result from repetitive moments throughout the day.

Tendonitis bursitis can occur in the wrists and fingers because of typing for long periods throughout the day without good wrist positioning. It also occurs frequently in painters who are constantly moving their wrist joint when they work. Bursitis tendonitis can also be a result of staying in one position for a long time without stretching or changing positions. Lastly, shoulder bursitis tendonitis can also occur in people with similar ailments, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or gout.

Shoulder bursitis can happen to anybody. Age and lifestyle does not matter when talking about acquiring bursitis tendonitis. Shoulder bursitis has a number of causes, but luckily, there are a number of treatments and preventative measures to lessen you chances of getting it. Making sure you do range of motion exercises, stretches, and changing positions often when sitting for a long time will help your joints stay in proper functioning order.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Cbt) And Negative Core Beliefs (Nc Bs) Identification

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an effective psychotherapy for a wide range of emotional and psychological problems. The basic tenet of CBT is that our emotions are affected by our cognitions. To put it another way – the way we think affects the way we feel.

A CBT therapist aims to help people suffering from emotional problems by helping them to identify the ways in which their thinking may be causing their problem. A first step in CBT is therefore the identification of “Negative Automatic Thoughts” (or “NATs” for short) – these are the thoughts that accompany unpleasant or unhelpful emotions such as depression or anxiety.

A closely related aim of the CBT therapist is the identification of so-called “Thinking Errors”. These are habitual (and unhelpful) ways a person has of thinking about themselves, others, and the world around them. These thinking errors will often twist or distort experiences, acting to make the person seem a failure, others as hostile, and the world as dangerous or unpleasant.

The identification of NATs and related Thinking Errors is half the battle in CBT – once a person is aware of their unhelpful thoughts and mental habits they can then choose to think in more rational, healthy ways. A CBT therapist can guide them through this (fairly straightforward) process.

As a Psychiatrist and therapist working in Edinburgh I use CBT techniques extensively. Some of my clients are quite happy with the results they get from simply challenging their NATs and Thinking Errors – they feel much better and have no desire to delve further. However, the majority of clients are keen to “get to the bottom” of why they had their emotional problems in the first place. I tend to encourage this further work as it helps to reinforce the progress made to date and, in my opinion, helps to prevent the client from relapsing at some future date.

This further work involves a search for “Negative Core Beliefs” (or “NCBs”). These are the unhelpful beliefs that a person has had throughout their later childhood and adult life. They are core components of the person’s personality and they are the root cause of the person’s Thinking Errors and ultimately their NATs. If a CBT therapist can help a person to change their Negative Core Beliefs (or, more realistically, find more rational and healthier alternatives), then the person’s Thinking Errors and NATs will diminish, and their emotional problems will lessen (usually!).

A difficulty with NCBs is that a person is rarely aware of them. Even when someone is competent at identifying NATs and Thinking Errors, the cause of these problems may be hidden. But we can use NATs and Thinking Errors as clues.

In my experience as a Psychiatrist in Edinburgh I have found two techniques of most benefit in the search for the NCBs of my clients.

Firstly, there is the method of “Repeated Questioning”. I ask the client what a particular NAT he has identified means to him – he will give an answer, and I then ask him what that answer means to him. He will give a second answer, and I then ask him what that second answer means to him, and so on. Within a short space of time, the client ends up with a global statement that can’t be taken any further. This is a Negative Core Belief. It’s probably best demonstrated with an example:

Client:”There’s loads of litter around Edinburgh” (He’s angry)

CBT Therapist:”What does that mean?”

Client:”That I’m the only one who cares about it”

CBT Therapist:”What does it mean if you’re the only one who cares about it?”

Client:”People don’t care about things that aren’t their personal property”

CBT Therapist:”And what does it mean if people only care about their own stuff?”

Client:”People are only out for themselves”

(“People are only out for themselves”. This is the client’s Negative Core Belief – a global statement that is uncompromising and will clearly influence the way he views and interacts with others in other areas of life, not simply littering!)

A second method of identifying Negative Core Beliefs is to look for the “themes” that run throughout a persons many NATs and Thinking Errors. Such themes may be “I’m a failure” or “There’s no point to life” (very common in depression), or perhaps “The world’s a dangerous place to live” (common in anxiety conditions).

Once a client’s Negative Core Beliefs have been identified, the CBT therapist will (along with the client) try and explore alternative and more rational ways of thinking about the self, others, and the world in general. This is where real, sustained recovery from emotional problems is made and I will discuss this in a follow-up article entitled “Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Negative Core Beliefs (NCBs) – Treatment”.

Hair Loss Onion Treatment For Hair Loss

Onion is a popular folk remedy for hair loss. It is a tried and tested product, having been used for centuries not only for its potent hair strengthening properties, but also for other medicinal purposes. In fact, physicians in the Middle Ages prescribed onions to counteract snake bites, earaches, headaches, and hair loss.

High Sulfur Content of Onion

Onion is useful against hair loss because of its high sulfur content. Sulfur is known as the healing mineral since it has the ability to stimulate blood circulation and reduce skin inflammation. It is also called the beauty mineral because it is vital in the development of collagen, which is the major protein in our skin that gives it durability and smoothness. It also keeps our hair and nails in top condition. These properties of sulfur thus mean that the right amount of sulfur levels in our body can aid in reducing hair loss and encouraging hair regrowth.

To spot sulfur deficiency, watch out for dry skin, weak nails, and brittle hair. Other signs may include allergies, unusual fatigue, headaches, diabetes, and sore muscles and joints. If we do not maintain a proper diet, then chances are our body is not getting enough sulfur that it needs. As a matter of fact, scientists believe that chemical pesticides and fertilizers exhaust the soil of sulfur and this affects the sulfur content of plants being grown in that soil. Moreover, processed foods have been found to contain smaller amounts of sulfur because the mineral has been destroyed in the process. Sulfur cannot be manufactured by the human body, so it must be gotten through other ways, such as eating sulfur-rich foods and taking supplements.

Apply Onion Directly on Scalp

For hair loss sufferers, the easiest and cheapest way to benefit from the hair strengthening qualities of sulfur is through the application of onion extract directly on the scalp. A study published in June 2002 in the Journal of Dermatology talks about the efficacy of topical onion extract against alopecia areata, better known as hair loss. As much as 73% of the persons who used onion juice experienced some form of hair regrowth. The variations of treatments that were used in the experiment are the following:

(1)Chop a medium-sized onion into small pieces and add it to one cup of rum. Let it sit for 24 hours. Strain the mixture using a sieve and massage the remaining liquid solution onto your scalp.

(2)Mix half a cup of chopped onions and half a cup of dried stinging nettle. Add enough vodka to cover the onions and nettle. Let the mixture sit for a few days. Strain the mixture using a sieve and apply the liquid to your scalp.

(3)Mix a quarter cup of onion juice with a tablespoon of raw honey. Massage this mixture onto your scalp daily.

Other Onion Treatments

Other onion treatments recommended by alternative medicine experts include rubbing a slice of onion directly against the scalp before applying honey over it. This should be done twice a day. Another example of a remedy is in the form of a hair rinse. Put 2 cups of brown onion skins in a quart of boiled water and let it sit for 50 minutes. Wash and shampoo your hair as usual, then dry it with a towel. Rinse it several times with the onion skin mixture before washing it off with water.
